Mayor Cortez on Joplin Sports Facility Project

The city of Joplin is working hard to bring a large indoor sports complex to the area.  

Mayor Keenan Cortez told Newstalk KZRG: 

“I hear a lot of, man, there's nothing to do in Joplin. Anytime we need to do something or we want to do something, we've got to go somewhere. When my youngest child was playing basketball and going to tournaments all the time, I was always leaving Joplin to go to northwest Arkansas or further up the state of Missouri for him to be able to play in some of these large tournaments.  We don't have anything here locally that we can do that on.”

The indoor Joplin Sports Facility Project will be built just south of 20th Street east of Rangeline.
