A man from Neosho, Missouri, was killed in a ten-vehicle pileup on Interstate 44 Friday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 37-year-old Rodger A. Alexander was in a car stopped on the roadway due to congested traffic, two miles west of Mt. Vernon, shortly before an area of road construction.
A semi-truck failed to slow down for traffic and struck his car from behind, which cause a chain reaction that caused damage to eight other vehicles.
Alexander was flown to a Springfield hospital and pronounced dead a few hours later.
Four others were injured in the crash.
