BBB: Watch out for Cryptocurrency scams

The Better Business Bureau is advising consumers to watch out for cryptocurrency scams.

Victims have been reported in Monett, Cassville, Nixa, Springfield, Battlefield, and surrounding communities.

You might get a message from someone posing as a successful personal trainer or other professional promising thousands of dollars  in profit from a very small investment.

Stephanie Garland of the BBB says math usually doesn’t work that way.

"Be very cautious and be aware," she states.  "If you don't know enough about what is going on with crypto-currency, BitCoin or other methods of payment, don't invest with it."

Garland says the BitCoin scam, in addition to ponzi schemes, social media scams, romance scams and  others have one thing in common - Criminals want to get your payments or obtain your personal financial information so they can rip you off.
