Pittsburg man arrested after DUI enforcement initiative

A man from Pittsburg is in custody after he was found a DUI enforcement initative. Read the full press release below:

On Friday morning, August 23, 2019, at approximately 1:35 AM, an officer of the Pittsburg Police Department, who was working a granted funded DUI enforcement initiative, conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for a registration violation in the 1300 Block of S. Broadway St.

Officers met with the driver, who was identified as 33-year-old Carl T. Powell II, of Pittsburg. During the traffic contact, officers learned the license plate displayed on the motorcycle was reported stolen out of Greenwood County, Kansas, and the motorcycle itself was reported stolen out of Pittsburg.

Powell was arrested for a parole violation, criminal use of weapons, possession of paraphernalia, and distribute opiates. A parole detainer from the Kansas Department of Corrections was obtained, and Mr. Powell is being held without bond.
