Construction on a new end zone facility at Pittsburg State is scheduled to begin next week, with completion targeted for the 2027 football season.

The facility will be built at the north end of Carnie Smith Stadium and feature a game-day football locker room, coaches' offices, recruiting areas, team meeting rooms, and study spaces for student-athletes.

It will also include 20 premium suites, a first-floor Mpix Club and event space available for university and community gatherings throughout the year.

All of those premium suites have already been reserved, although memberships remain available for the Mpix Club.

The project will be funded entirely through private donations, with fundraising efforts continuing.

Beginning November 12, construction equipment and materials will occupy a staging area near the Brown parking lot, north of Gorilla Village.

The area will also include a portion of the nearby hike-bike path.

University officials say the project is intended to strengthen recruiting, improve the student-athlete experience, and create additional opportunities for alumni and community engagement.
