McDaniel was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Department of Corrections, where he was booked on a charge of Second-Degree Murder in connection with the death of 40-year-old Devin Windsor of Independence, Kansas.

Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and KBI will continue working diligently to conduct a thorough investigation, including following up on evidence, conducting additional interviews, and completing all necessary investigative reports.

Once the investigation is completed, the case will be forwarded to the Montgomery County Attorney's Office for review and determination of formal charges.

Sheriff Ron Wade stated, "I want to commend our investigators and the investigators with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation for the countless hours they have put into this case. An arrest does not mean the investigation is over. There is still a significant amount of work that must be completed to ensure we provide the County Attorney's Office with the most thorough investigation possible."

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Kansas Bureau of Investigation will continue working together until this investigation is complete.

All persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
