Warm fall weather to give way to Halloween rain, possible severe storms Monday
What do you think?
The Joplin-are will enjoy several more days of unusually warm fall weather before a wetter, potentially stormier pattern develops around Halloween and early next week.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s Wednesday and Thursday, roughly 10 to 15 degrees above normal for this time of year.
But changes arrive Friday night as rain chances increase ahead of Halloween.
Rain chances Saturday stand between 35% and 50%.
Forecasters say it is too early to determine whether rain will interfere with trick-or-treating, and a complete washout is not guaranteed.
Attention then turns to Monday, November 2.
A developing storm system could bring widespread showers and thunderstorms, including locally heavy rainfall.
Some severe weather is possible, although considerable uncertainty remains about the timing, location and intensity of any storms.
The rainfall could provide some welcome relief across southwest Missouri, where drought conditions remain widespread.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows severe drought in parts of Jasper County, extreme drought in parts of Newton County and exceptional drought in portions of McDonald County.
