A Webb City man is accused of attacking another driver with a metal tool during a road rage incident in Joplin.
59-year-old Johnathan Roberts is accused of second-degree assault following the confrontation Saturday on West Seventh Street.
According to court documents, it began with an altercation in traffic involving Roberts, who was driving a white work van, and another motorist, John Bouchard.
Bouchard told investigators Roberts pulled into a parking lot, got out of his vehicle and retrieved a metal tool before approaching him.
Roberts allegedly struck Bouchard twice in the stomach with the tool. When Bouchard attempted to block the second blow, Roberts reportedly hit him in the temple with the tool's handle.
Investigators say Roberts then punched Bouchard in the face with a closed fist.
Eye witnesses corroborated the allegations against Roberts as the investigation continues.
Roberts posted a $50,000 bond.
