JOPLIN, Mo. — Downtown Joplin will welcome the fall season with its final Third Thursday event of the year, the Harvest Festival, on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. along Main Street.

The community event will bring together local artists, musicians, performers, vendors and food trucks for an evening of entertainment, shopping and fall festivities in downtown Joplin.

Third Thursday, organized by the Downtown Joplin Alliance, has grown tremendously since its beginnings in 2008. Held monthly from March through October, the event draws thousands of visitors to downtown Joplin to celebrate local creativity, culture and community.

Organizers are looking forward to closing out the season with community activities, special guests and a festive atmosphere.

"We are really excited to have our sponsors Spire and Verts joining us for our last Third Thursday," the Joplin Alliance said. "Verts is also bringing along Curio Wellness, which we are excited about."

The Harvest Festival will offer visitors opportunities to explore the Artisan Market, discover local artwork and enjoy live entertainment throughout downtown.

"We want to bring the energy for our 19th season on the Third Thursdays," organizers said. "There will be giveaways, prizes, and over 30 food and beverage vendors."

Performances and activities will be spread between First and Seventh streets, featuring a variety of musical styles, dance, theater and other creative experiences. Visitors may also have opportunities to participate in activities and watch artistic demonstrations.

With Halloween approaching, organizers also hope to give the event a seasonal twist.

"With Halloween right around the corner, we hope to bring a fun, spooky vibe for Harvest Fest," organizers said.

One of the evening's highlights will be a special dance performance by the YMCA. Participants have been preparing for a flash mob set to Michael Jackson's "Thriller.". "They have spent over two months rehearsing, and we hope it just brings the community together."

Art lovers can explore indoor pop-up galleries and downtown destinations, including Urban Art Gallery, Spiva Center for the Arts and Local Color.

Food will also be a highlight of the evening, with food trucks serving a variety of options, from tacos and barbecue to pizza and frozen treats. Visitors can also dine at downtown restaurants or enjoy refreshments at outdoor patios and the event's beer garden.

Downtown businesses are expected to offer additional opportunities for shopping and entertainment, with some merchants staying open late and providing special discounts, classes and other activities. Visitors are encouraged to explore beyond Main Street, including the Joplin Avenue Entertainment District, the SoDown District in the 900 block and businesses along Virginia Avenue.

The event also provides an opportunity for local makers, artists and musicians to connect with the community.

Musicians of all genres are invited to participate in Third Thursday, with performance opportunities on designated music stages, the performing arts stage and throughout the event.

As the final Third Thursday of 2026, the Harvest Festival offers residents and visitors one more opportunity this year to support local businesses, experience the arts and enjoy an evening in the heart of downtown Joplin.

"We hope people come out and celebrate the last Third Thursday because we will miss it till March," organizers said.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Community members are encouraged to come downtown, explore the festivities and celebrate the local businesses and creative talent that help make Joplin unique.
