Decomposing remains recovered from river near Quapaw

A group of kayakers discovered a man’s decomposing remains in Spring River in northeast Oklahoma.

The body was found Saturday morning just east of Quapaw near the old Bicentennial Park.

GRDA crews and Quapaw Nation Marshals recovered the remains from the water but were unable to identify him due to an “advanced” state of decomposition.

The remains were sent to the medical examiner’s office for further examination.
