Joplin, MO – Who’s ready to party like it’s 1776?
A few team slots are still available to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States at the Friends of the Joplin Public Library's “We the People … Know Things: A Declaration of Trivia Domination!” on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Joplin Public Library, 1901 E. 20 th St.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the competition kicking off at 6 p.m.
This year’s trivia night fundraiser will be designed to test your amber waves of brain with a trivial pursuit of happiness and the grand prize – a gift certificate and a star-spangled trophy for the winning team (and those all-important bragging rights, of course).
Mike Madden with Think Fast Productions will serve as this year’s emcee. Theme-related costumes and team names are encouraged.
“We always look forward to our annual trivia night, which is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year,” says Kathy Lazenby, president of the Friends group. “This year, we’re celebrating an important milestone in our country’s history and are planning a fun evening designed to put your knowledge of our great nation to the test.”
Entry is $100 per table for a team of up to eight participants. Mulligans will be available for $10 each, with a limit of four per team. This year’s premier sponsor is Satterlee Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning. Round sponsorships are also available for $100. Theme-related costumes and team names are encouraged. Teams are also welcome to bring their own refreshments (no alcohol).
A nonprofit organization, the Friends of the Joplin Public Library was founded to provide financial support beyond the library’s operating budget. Membership is open to individuals, families, businesses and other organizations regardless of card-holder status or city of residence.
