Neosho readies plans for inclusive playground
What do you think?
The city of Neosho is moving forward with plans for an inclusive playground designed for children and caregivers of all ages and abilities.
The approximately 8,844-square-foot playground at Rocketdyne Park will include fully ramped access, inclusive swings, specialized seating and handholds, sensory-friendly areas, safety surfacing and shade. Educational and imaginative play features are also planned.
Officials aim to create an intergenerational space where people of all abilities can play together.
The first phase is expected to cost $650,000.
Neosho has committed $468,000, covering 72% of the cost.
That leaves $182,000 to be raised through donations and sponsorships.
You can view renderings and tour the future playground site during a community preview from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Spring Valley Golf Course Conference Room, 1850 Clubhouse Road.
There will be no formal presentation, and residents may stop by at any time during the event.
