Charges of Felony Stealing and Money Laundering against former Carthage city employee Mark Peterson have been dismissed by the Missouri State Attorney General's office.

Peterson was a former manager and golf pro at the Carthage City Golf Course.

He was charged  after a forensic audit showed $142,000 missing.

The Glades Law Firm, acting as his attorney, said they found "irrefutable" evidence of 35 deposits Peterson made into the City of Carthage's Bank account that were never reported to the forensic auditor.

The Glades firm said in a statement they had sifted through terabytes of information to find the "needle in a haystack" information to demonstrate the innocence of their client.
