Joplin, Mo. – Connect2Culture (C2C) is excited to host the southwest Missouri Regional Poetry Out Loud Competition at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10 at their home theater inside the Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex at 212 West 7th Street in Joplin.

Poetry Out Loud is a dynamic poetry recitation competition for high school students. Students learn three poems and recite them in front of a panel of judges, who score participants based on public speaking skills, poem interpretation, and other factors.

Winners advance to regional, state, and eventually national competitions.

“Everyone at Connect2Culture is thrilled to welcome high school students from Stockton, Central, and Pleasant Hope to Connect2Culture for Poetry Out Loud!” says C2C Executive Director Emily Frankoski.

“This is a great opportunity for students to not only learn about and appreciate poetry, but to build their public speaking skills and confidence. We hope the Joplin community can join us in cheering on these students," Frankoski adds.
