The Newton County Sheriff's office issued the following news release:
On 02/04/26 a property owner on Wallaby Road near Wentworth Mo observed an unfamiliar truck on their property.
The owner followed the vehicle as it left their property and was able to get a description of the vehicle. The owner then returned to their property and discovered their workshop doors were open and items were missing.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office was able to coordinate with other agencies, and the suspect vehicle was located by Sarcoxie PD as it entered their city. The vehicle was stopped and missing items from the workshop were observed in the bed of the truck.

The case was forwarded to the Newton County Prosecutor’s Office, and a formal charge of 2nd Degree Burglary was filed. Ben Sitton is currently in custody in the Newton County jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
This is an ongoing investigation with possible links to other area rural burglaries.
Newton County Sheriff Matt Stewart commends the deputy’s quick response and coordination with other agencies that resulted in this arrest and charge.
