When Lao Tizer takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. on March 6 as part of the 52nd Annual Pittsburg State University Jazz Festival, the audience can expect an electrifying mix of jazz, funk, soul, and world influences.
The concert will be held at Memorial Auditorium, opening with a performance by the Pitt State Jazz Band directed by Professor Todd Hastings.
A limited number of tickets for floor seating will go on sale Friday, Jan. 30, at the Pitt State Ticket Office, 1701 S. Homer, and at pittstate.edu/tickets. Balcony seating is reserved for members of more than 70 area high school jazz bands.
Lao Tizer's performances blend intricate rhythms and dazzling improvisations, creating an experience that's both exhilarating and sophisticated.
With a lineup of world-class musicians, the band delivers a high-energy show that transcends genres and demonstrates “rare musicianship from a team of modern masters.” (The Royal Gazette).
The festival will take place all day on campus and at Memorial Auditorium, with student bands performing for critiques by judges.
