(Missourinet) - Republican Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt and Democratic Congressman Wesley Bell do see eye-to-eye on at least one issue – how to brew beer. The two members of Missouri’s congressional delegation have been honored at a beer brewing competition. They teamed up to create “Arch Light Lager:”

Schmitt and Bell won the “Brew Democracy Cup,” while Democratic Congressman Josh Riley and Republican Mike Lawler, both from New York, took home the “People’s Choice” trophy for their “Hudson Valley Harvest Lager.” The competition paired up members of Congress from opposite parties to craft and brew their own beer recipes in an event designed to promote bipartisanship. The competition was sponsored by Anheuser Busch.

According to Bell: “My arms are sore from holding up this heavy trophy because we knew that we were gonna win. No, but this was great. This was fun. This is what bipartisanship is supposed to be about. And I'm glad we got to participate and obviously win.”

According to Schmitt: “Greatest day of my life. Greatest day of my life. I'm here with Wesley Bell, my friend. We just won this whole damn thing. As we predicted, we brewed the greatest beer in America as voted on tonight. Couldn’t have done it without Wesley Bell.”

Northern Missouri Republican Congressman Sam Graves teamed up with Arizona Democrat Greg Stanton to create an IPA they call “Meet in the Middle Mango.” The competition took place on January 13th.
