This is National Blood Donation Month.

The American Red Cross reports that blood donations sometimes slow down because of packed schedules and sometimes winter weather.

Right now is a good time to donate blood according to Lee Eastburn of the American Red Cross:

“Something that's really fun about this month with it being the super bowl coming up is that anyone who comes in and donates this month is entered automatically into a contest to win two free tickets to the Super Bowl. That comes with two flights, three nights stay in a hotel and $1,000 of spending money. And that was generously donated to the American Red Cross. So if you come in and donate, you'll be entered to possibly head to San Francisco this year.”

Eastburn went on to say: “People can go on our website, redcross.org, they can also go to redcrossblood.org they could just type in Red Cross and blood donation into Google and those websites should come up. We also have our Red Cross app and for people who would like to call and just find out about where blood drive might be close by, they can also call 1-800-Red Cross and with the blood donor app and on the website you can just type in your zip code and up will come your local blood drives listed by distance and you can schedule your appointment that way.
