One man booked in Parsons following alleged domestic disturbance

On Sunday, December 21, 2025, officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence in the 2200 block of Belmont Avenue in Parsons, Kansas. Officers arrived to find a female victim and her young child outside the home.
During the investigation, officers made contact with an adult male inside the residence who became increasingly confrontational and attempted to leave while officers were conducting interviews. As officers attempted to detain the individual for safety reasons, he resisted and repeatedly reached toward his pocket despite commands to stop.
Officers were able to safely place the suspect into custody, and a loaded .40 caliber handgun was recovered from his pocket.

The suspect, who was identified as Tyler Powell, was transported to the Parsons Police Department and booked without further incident.
The charges sent to the prosecuting attorney include Domestic Battery, Endangering a Child, Aggravated Assault of Law Enforcement Officer, Battery on Law Enforcement. Public Information Office Officer, Interference with Law Enforcement Officer and Assault. The investigation remains ongoing, and charges are pending review.
