Speed limit lowering on busy Carl Junction road

The speed limit is changing on a busy Carl Junction roadway.

Starting next week, MODOT is lowering the speed limit on Z highway, from Roney to JJ.  

Carl Junction Police Chief Mark McCall tells Newstalk KZRG:

“The speed limit was 45 miles an hour. They're going to drop it to 40. MoDOT did a traffic survey earlier this year and determined that due to the schools and the traffic and everything, it needed to be dropped by five miles an hour.”

Chief McCall hopes the accident rate goes down because of the change.

Z highway runs by the Carl Junction High School.
