Officers locate, seize meth, stolen motorcycles from Newton County residence

Sheriff Matt Stewart of the Newton County Sheriff's Department has issued the following news release: 

"On June 4, 2025, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, along with the Joplin Police Department SWAT team and Ozarks Drug Enforcement Team executed a narcotics search warrant at 6619 Spurgeon Road in Newton County.

"The warrant stemmed from an ongoing investigation conducted by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office and the Ozarks Drug Enforcement Team.

"Detectives with the Sheriff's Office and ODET located and seized evidence of suspected methamphetamine distribution from a structure located on the property.

"In addition, Detectives recovered four Harley Davidson motorcycles that had been reported stolen from Newton County; Harrisonville, Missouri; Springfield, Missouri; and Carroll County, Arkansas.

"The Newton County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Joplin Police Department, Redings Mill Fire District, Joplin Metro Emergency Transport and Newton County Ambulance District for their assistance in this operation.

"The investigation is ongoing.

"The Newton County Sheriff’s Office and its partner agencies are committed to combating illegal drug activity in our communities. The Newton County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information about illegal drugs or
other illegal activity in our communities to call 417-451-8333 to report the activity."
