Democrat Schiff places Missourian Ed Martin's nomination on hold

California U.S. Senator Adam Schiff said he is placing Missourian Ed Martin's nomination to be U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia on hold.

Martin, a "Stop the Steal" advocate and former defense attorney who represented U.S. Capitol rioters, is a former Chairman of the Missouri Republican Party.

Schiff called Martin is the embodiment of President Trump's weaponization of the Justice Department.

The hold could stall Martin's nomination by weeks or even months.

Martin has been serving as acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia since Inauguration Day.
