Joplin Fire Department rescues individual from stalled cargo elevator

Joplin Fire Department Stations 5 & 7 utilized their technical rescue skills today to remove an individual from a stalled cargo elevator stuck between floors reportedly at Blue Buffalo in the Joplin Industrial Park.

Earlier efforts to recall the elevator were unsuccessful and resulted in occupant being removed through the elevator shaft to floor 3.

Working in tandem with the emergency response team from the facility, crews were able to utilize ropes and rigging to safely remove the occupant.

This incident highlights the hazards training and capabilities of JFD firefighters, as well as the relationship they have with industrial partners who work and train to handle such incidents.

The occupant of the elevator was not injured.
