The Missouri Legislature could vote on several key bills this week.
Current law allows those who are at least 16 to get married with their parent’s permission. The Missouri Senate could discuss whether to change the minimum marriage age to 18.
Another bill the Senate could debate aims to create specialized courts focused on providing an alternative for certain criminal defendants who are suffering from substance abuse and mental health disorders.
Over in the Missouri House, lawmakers there could talk about a proposal that would ask voters to limit assessed property value increases to two-percent per year or four-percent every time a property’s value is assessed.
That chamber is also expected to vote on whether to fund the installation of more drop-off boxes for parents to anonymously surrender their newborn.
