Joplin Police arrest man who opened fire downtown this month

UPDATE: Reed has been taken into custody.

Joplin Police have identified the man they say opened fire downtown earlier this month.

On Saturday, February 15, around 2:11 am, JPD began getting reports of shots fired in the area of 5th and Joplin Avenue.

When they arrived, they noticed numerous shell casings but there were no suspects or victims on the scene. But they discovered that at least two vehicles and two buildings had been damaged because of gunfire.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 22-year-old Andrew M. Reed, of Joplin.

The warrant was issued by the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Property Damage 1st Degree.

They are requesting help from the public with locating Reed.
