Republic teen arrested after fatal crash claims life of Vinita woman

A 17-year-old from Republic, Missouri, is in custody after a fatal crash claimed the life of a woman from Vinita, Oklahoma.

Police were pursuing the teenager, who had stolen a vehicle in Vinita on Sunday, when the crash happened on Route 66, northeast of Claremore.

The suspect pulled out in front of vehicle that 23-year-old Logan Harrel was in. The Rogers State University cheerleader died at the scene. Her mother was flown to a Tulsa hospital and is expected to recover.

The teen, who had previously stolen two other vehicles in Missouri, admitted he was on a crime spree from Greene County to California.

Formal charges expected soon.
