Electric bike rider seriously injured in hit and run near Carthage

The rider of an electric bicycle suffered serious injuries in an accident on Chestnut Street, about a half mile east of Carthage around 3:15 Sunday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when an eastbound passenger car or truck struck the rear of an eastboubnd Metakoo Cybertrak 100 operated by 36-year-old Justin L. Myers of Carthage.

The vehicle involved then left the scene of the accident.

Myers was seriously injured.

He was transported to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
