McDonald County Deputy, one other person, injured after building explodes Saturday morning

A McDonald County Deputy and one other person were taken to the hospital after a building exploded during an investigation Saturday morning.

The McDonald County Sheriff’s office says officers had responded to a call around 10:30 a.m. Saturday about a possibly suicidal person four miles east of Anderson on E. State Highway 76.

Deputies were speaking with an individual in an effort to have a person or persons exit a building when what is described as a “large explosion” took place.

The Deputy with the assistance of Anderson Fire personnel, was able to access and remove the victim from a burning building.

The victim was transported via helicopter to a hospital.

The Deputy was treated for smoke inhalation he encountered while gaining access and removing the victim from the structure
