Deputies release details about Redings Mill murder-suicide

Newton County Deputies have released more details about a murder-suicide that took place in Redings Mill Saturday night.

Around 9:50 pm, Newton County Central Dispatch Center got a call from 62-year-old William Clanton, who told dispatchers he had shot and killed his wife, 65-year-old Vicki Clanton. William also stated he was about to shoot himself.

When patrol units got to the home at 206 Clark Drive, they found the two deceased on the floor.

Newton County detectives processed the scene and through the course of the investigation, it was determined that William shot and killed Vicki and then turned the gun on himself.
