Carthage City Council to decide Mayor's fate in hearing on Wednesday, June 5th

The Carthage City Council held a special session Monday evening to deal with an proposal  that could  remove Dan Rife from his office as Mayor.

Before  discussion began, Mayor Rife said read a statement expressing his doubt about the motives behind the effort.

He also said he felt the move was not in the best interest of the citizens of Carthage.

Despite his reservations, the Carthage Council voted to hold a formal hearing with lawyers present to decide the issue beginning at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5th.
