Tractor-trailer unit hits passenger car on Highway 43; man from Carl Junction killed

An accident at Route M and Highway 43, 7 miles north of Oronogo has taken the life of a man from Carl Junction, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred at 6:16 a.m. on Friday when an eastbound 2014 Volvo Tractor Trailer unit driven by 56-year-old Maria T. Pardo of Miami Gardens, Florida traveled into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by 36-year-old Kevin Z. Ford of Carl Junction.

Ford's vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and came to rest partially blocking the Westbound Lane of Route M.

The tractor-trailer unit came to rest blocking the eastbound lane of Route M.

Pardo was not injured.

Ford was pronounced dead at 10:50 a.m. this [Saturday] morning at a Joplin Hospital.
