Two trucks crash and overturn; teenage driver sent to hospital

An accident on Highway 59 about two miles east of Neosho, sent a 17-year-old driver to the hospital.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 4:45 Friday afternoon when a westbound 2012 Chevrolet Colorado driven by a 17-year-old male driver from Neosho, failed to yield to a 2023 Freightliner driven by 27-year-old Deshawn M. Lovelace of Stockton, Mo.

Both the pickup truck and the fully-loaded tractor-trailer unit, which reportedly was filled with garbage, overturned.

Lovelace was not injured.

The teenage driver suffered moderate injuries.

He was transported by the Newton County Ambulance District to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
