Motorcycles collide near Joplin; One rider seriously injured

A motorcycle accident around 5 p.m. Friday evening on Coyote Drive about 1/2 a mile west of Joplin resulted in in serious injuries to one rider.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened when a westbound 2006 Harley-Davidson operated by 57-year-old Daniel M. Martin of Joplin was hit from the rear by a 2004 Harley operated by 57-year-old Billy M. Thrasher of Joplin.

The Highway Patrol says Thrasher suffered serious injuries.

He was transported to a Joplin hospital

Martin was not injured.
