Car goes off road, hits culvert and overturns; Driver seriously injured

A woman from Neosho was seriously injured in single-car accident on Kodiak Road about a mile west of Neosho around 5:15 Friday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident took place when a 2023 Toyota Corolla driven by 77-year-old Martha L. Wilkins of Neosho ran off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and overturned.

Wilkins suffered serious injuries. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Joplin.

Wilkins was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident, according to the Highway Patrol accident report.
