Accident near Nevada kills one driver, injures another

An accident on U.S. Highway 54, about a mile and a half east of Nevada has taken the life of a man from southwest Missouri.
It happened just after 10 p.m. Friday night.
The MO State Highway Patrol reports the accident took place when an eastbound vehicle driven by 59-year-old Gordon S. Buttorff of Walker, Mo., crossed the center line and struck a westbound vehicle driven by 21-year-old Samuel O. Spring of Eldorado Springs head-on.
Buttorff was pronounced dead at the scene.
Spring suffered serious injuries.
He was flown to a hospital in Joplin.
