Woman injured in early morning accident

A one-vehicle accident on Highway 171 west of the Brooklyn Heights Exit just east of Carterville this morning (Saturday) resulted in injuries to one woman.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. when an eastbound vehicle driven by 23-year old Madison R. Thomas of Salisbury, Missouri traveled off the right side of the highway, struck a rock bluff and overturned.

The Patrol accident report says Thomas was not wearing a safety device.

She had moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to a Joplin hospital
