Big rigs crash on I-44 early this morning

A portion of westbound I-44 had to be temporarily diverted onto Range Line early this morning, after two tractor-trailer units crashed near the 8-mile marker.

The crash took place a little after 3 a.m. and one line of traffic finally opened in the westbound lane a little less than an hour later.

Reports say that the cab of one of the big trucks was ripped off after the collision.

Two people were reportedly transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
