Fatal crash in McDonald County: Vehicular Homicide charges filed

Charges of vehicular homicide have been filed against a man from Anderson, Mo. following an accident on Mo 59 North Route NN inside the city limits of that McDonald County community around 8:25 a.m. Saturday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred when a southbound 2004 Nissan Armada driven by 25-year-old Vincent P. Castro of Anderson crossed the centerline and struck a northbound 2010 Toyota Tacoma driven by 65-year-old David E. Cunningham, also of Anderson, head on.

Cunningham was pronounced dead at Freeman West hospital in Joplin at 9:55 a.m.

The Highway Patrol Arrest Report on the accident states that Castro is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Vehicular Homicide, Felony DWI, Careless and Imprudent Driving Resulting in a Motor Vehicle Crash, and Driving without Insurance.

Castro suffered serious injuries and was transported by Life Flight to Mercy Springfield hospital, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
