Inmate dies at Lansing Correctional Center; homicide suspected

There was a death at the Lansing Correctional Center in Topeka over the weekend.

56-year old inmate Fred Patterson III died on Sunday.

Prison officials say it was an apparent homicide.

Patterson was doing time for sexual offenses against minors in Douglas County. He’d been returned to the prison on May 24th as the result of a parole violation.

His body will undergo an independent  autopsy. 

The death is being investigated by Kansas Dept. of Corrections (KDOC) and the KBI.
