Motorcycle rider seriously injured in Saturday night accident

The rider of a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja  was seriously injured in a one vehicle crash Saturday night on Deer Drive in Joplin in Newton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred around 10:50 p.m. when the eastbound cycle operated by 33-year-old Cody D. Jones of Asbury failed to negotiate a "T" intersection and struck a ditch.

Jones suffered serious injuries.

He was transported by METS Ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

The Patrol report says Jones was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
