2022 Joplin Memorial Run is history

The 2022 Joplin Memorial Run is now history. About 1,600 runners took part in the event that kicked off early Saturday morning.

The first person to finish in the half marathon was Erin Edminster of Bentonville, Arkansas. She set a new course record with a total run time of 1 hour, 18 minutes.

She also became the first woman to ever win in that division of the Joplin Memorial Run.

The race featured a 5K, 10K, Relay and Half Marathon. Over two dozen law enforcement officers from Joplin and the Joplin area assisted in stopping traffic and other duties.

The planning is already getting underway for the 2023 Memorial Run.
