New Congressional Redistricting Map to be Considered

There’s a late entry in the contest to redraw Missouri’s congressional districts.

The new map is nearly identical to the original map passed by the Missouri House back in January.

It would provide Democrats with two “safe” districts, which would include urban areas in and around St. Louis and Kansas City.

It’s sponsored by Republican Representative Dan Shaul of Jefferson County, which would solely be within the Third Congressional District instead of being split between the Third and the Eighth as it is now.

Shaul’s original map was passed by the Senate after several changes and an attempt to replace it with one containing seven “safe” Republican seats and only one for Democrats.

A hearing for Shaul’s new congressional redistricting map is scheduled for Wednesday at 12-noon.
