New trial date for Lake-area realtor

A real estate broker from the Lake of the Ozarks is set to go on trial May 23rd for allegedly attempting to hire a hitman to kill her former mother-in-law. 

Forty-four-year-old Leigh Ann Bauman is charged with conspiracy to commit murder -- she has pleaded not guilty. 

Multiple media outlets report that Bauman believed her mother-in-law and ex-husband were conspiring to take custody of her children away from her, and as a result tried to hire a hitman to kill her and “make it look like an accident.” 

The case has garnered worldwide media attention, including coverage from the British tabloid Daily Mail.
