House bill dealing with abortion will be "DOA" in Senate, Rowden says

A bill in the Missouri House probably won't make it through the Missouri Senate, according to a top Senate leader.

House Bill 3810, sponsored by Brian Seitz of Taney County, would, among other things, make it a felony to perform, induce or attempt an abortion on a woman with an ectopic pregnancy.

A pregnancy is deemed ectopic when a fetus grows outside a woman's uterus, usually in a fallopian tube. The condition can be life-threatening.

The bill also would create a new offense of trafficking abortion-inducing devices or drugs and bans attempted abortions on women with pregnancies at more than 10 weeks.

Republican Senate Majority Leader State Senator Caleb Rowden said in a Tweet that the bill was “DOA” in that chamber if it makes it out of the House.

Rowden said, “Not all 'pro-life' bills are actually pro-life."
