BBB: Watch out for the "boss scam"

Someone pretending to be your boss texts you.

He or she tells you to buy gift cards and send them fast.

But experts caution you to not react too quickly. It's almost certainly a scam.

"If you get this text, take a screenshot, report it to bbb.org/scamtracker  and let us know online," says Stephanie Garland of the Better Business Bureau.

"We'll let law enforcement and let the Federal Trade Commission know within 24 hours," she adds.

Garland says gift cards are almost impossible to trace. That's why scammers want them.
