Joplin man seriously injured after motorcycle crash

A 24-year-old man from Joplin is recovering from serious injuries he sustained after a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened just before 3:30 pm, about three miles south of Joplin on old Highway 71, when Paul Haney's motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve, started to skid, went off the road and hit a mailbox.

Haney was then ejected from the bike, which overturned. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
