Truck hits car, then house in Ft. Scott on New Year’s Day

It’s not often that a house is part of a traffic accident but it did happen in Ft. Scott on New Year’s Day.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the collision occurred on US-69 at about the 65 mile marker just after 4:30 on January 1st.

The Patrol says a semi trailer driver lost control of his tractor-trailer, left the roadway and struck another vehicle and then a house.

A passenger in the tractor-trailer, Laura Marievel Delatorre, 37, of Tacoma, Wash. was transported to Via Christi, Fort Scott, Kan. suffering serious injuries.

Truck driver 48-year old Luis Ramon Domingo Pozo of Tacoma, Washington suffered no injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, who was sitting in his driveway in his Chevy pickup, 35-year-old Clifton Adrian Varner and his passenger, 63-year-old Faith Ellen Varner both of Ft. Scott, also suffered no injuries.
