Driver from Wisconsin killed in Oklahoma car wreck

A car wreck Thursday evening took the life of a man from Wisconsin and injured two northeast Oklahoma residents.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol tells NewsTalk KZRG the collision took place around 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the 8 Tribes Way and OK69-A intersection.

The patrol says the head-on collision occurred when a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Steven Rippetoe of Quapaw crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by 72-year-old Albert Horton of Sparta, Wisconsin.

Horton was taken to a hospital in Miami where he later was pronounced dead.

Passenger 53-year-old Karesha Huddleston of Vinita and Rippetoe were both taken to a Joplin hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
