Man from Springfield killed in car crash now identified

A man from Springfield that was killed in a crash in Springfield Friday night has now been identified.

43-year-old Matthew Wood died from injuries he sustained from the crash after he was taken to a nearby hospital.

Springfield authorities say police originally responded to the 3800 block of West Chestnut Expressway around 6:20 p.m. on December 10.

A 2006 Chevy Impala had reportedly made a left turn to travel east on Chestnut Expressway from Eldon Avenue where Wood was struck.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene.
