Man suffers injuries after hitting deer in roadway

An encounter between an automobile and a deer on Friday has resulted in injuries to a Neosho man.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 63-year-old Larry J. Ottendorf of Neosho was driving  his 2018 Ford Fiesta east on US 60, approximately 2 miles east of Neosho around 4:20 Friday afternoon, when he hit a deer in the roadway.

Ottendorf was transported to a Joplin hospital suffering moderate injuries.

The patrol says he was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
